Edward C. Stresino introduced to the art world his invention of Circlism in the year 1985. The development of Circlism comes from the idea of drawing an image in terms of tiny circles or shapes to create a unique perspective. In The Story of Circlism (published by Xlibris 2012) on page 11 "This perspective allows the viewer to see through the eyes of the artist." The inception of Circlism as Stresino states in his book, occurred in 1985 during his high school Biology Class. Stresino was viewing a Biology film involving the process of cell division known as mitosis. This process involves the chromosomes in the nucleus of the parent cell to duplicate and divide into two identical sets. This film presentation inspired Stresino to start drawing circles, and dividing them until they could be divided no more.
Examples of Circlism have been exhibited in Edward C. Stresino’s artwork : at the Burbank Police and Fire Museum, Hangar 1018 benefiting Katrina survivors, The Pinewood Derby at Hangar 1018 in Los Angeles, and in Sacramento at the California State Teacher's Federal Building.

I was doing my usual Google searches and happened to come across this very interesting link that is technically a pdf file , but I was unable to access the information which was either taken down or being sold on an online bookstore for $169.00! My name is Edward C. Stresino.
The breakthrough occured in highschool. In my sophomore year I became fascinated with spontaneous cell separations as a means of constructing and deconstructing visual images. Eleven years later in 1996 I found myself visualizing landscapes in the same terms. As my self-confidence grew I discovered a technique of my own. I refer to this technique as Circlism and it means to paint by diagramming an image in terms of tiny circles or figures. Words can only begin to project the idea which becomes meaningful when the viewer is in front of a full size painting.
As I proceed I feel that each painting is a further step ahead. Each painting is becoming more complex and intricate. I see my paintings as a means to achieve more complete awareness and to penetrate more deeply into contemporary perception.
Circlism is a technique that utilizes circles as a method of applying paint or any medium that one uses. The circles bring out the subject or it can also camouflage the subject. It depends on the viewer's point of view. See www.circlism.com Painting in the method of Circlism which was first discovered by me in 1985. It was used in 1996 in sketches that I made and finally in 2000 was used with oils on masonite.
